5 Books On Faith That Shaped My Walk With God
Each one of us has a unique way of describing the term, ‘faith’ depending on experience or acculturation. It is highly personal and everyone strives to find their own way of increasing their faith.
When things don’t go our way (which tends to happen a lot), we become hopeless, desperate, anxious, even doubtful of the course. It is at such times that we need to flex our Faith muscles.
Below I’m sharing some of my favourite books on Faith to help you navigate your Faith journey through life with a pinch of grace.
Books On Faith
Piercing The Darkness by Frank E. Peretti
A simply fascinating take on the topic of the Supernatural in a natural world that led me on a compelling reality of Angels and Demons. This is not your normal ‘How-to’ kind of a read, It’s a fiction book that is sure to wow your view on the power of a simple prayer. From an attempted murder to a lawsuit against a school teacher in a Christian school to a young lady running for her life in a small seemingly peaceful town all chaos breaks lose.
Sally Beth Roe is running for her life and finds herself at bacon’s corner, where she hides as she tries to come to terms with her dreaded past. With gripping plot twists, Frank Peretti exquisitely brings to life the behind the scenes fight for the human soul between angels & demons. What may seem ordinary chaos is not so ordinary after all.
A perfect thriller, that shows how God uses people and circumstances to accomplish his will in unimaginable ways. It also shows how simple prayers can make demons flee and angels charge to our rescue without us knowing.
Love & Respect by Dr. Emerson Eggerichs
Do you find yourself going on a crazy cycle of ‘She doesn’t respect me’ and ‘he doesn’t love me like I love him’? Sometimes these thoughts crawl into our minds when we feel our partner acted in unloving/disrespectful ways. Then the stonewalling, blame game begins and before you know it, you’re not too sure you even like each other.
This book tries to demystify the complexities of how men and women interpret messages. Isn’t God amazing? He made us so different yet so compatible. This book will help you figure out how to be more ‘loving’ towards your husband by giving him the respect he desperately needs. For the husbands, the book will guide on how to show and give her the love she most desires. The practical examples are quite relatable, and funny. A perfect entertaining self-help book.
When God Doesn’t Make Sense by Dr. James Dobson
It’s easier to praise God, and talk about his goodness when all’s well. But when awful things happen, we tend to blame ourselves, others and God. Was God really there? Does He even exist? Why did he allow this to happen? Dr. James Dobson, gives real life experiences from all circles of life. From a Pastor’s heartbreaking story of having faithfully served God yet his daughter passed away at an early age from an illness. To a Christian couple having a child spiral into a whirlwind of wrong choices and is now fighting drug addiction. With plenty of experiences, the author helps us to empathize with these Individuals yet relate to some. Then he wittingly explains how to remain sober using the word of God even when God doesn’t make sense.
Wait As Eagles by Sadhu Sundar Selvaraj
What are you doing today to make your meditation of the word an experience and not just a ritual? We all have ambitions of supernatural experiences we want to have. Things that are larger than life. I for sure have plenty of times I find myself wishing Jesus would appear to me in man form and tell me what I should do.
Wait As Eagles is an engaging read told by a reknown prophet of God, who teaches in such a personable way. Giving his own accounts of his journey walking with God. He shares secrets of how we can achieve a walk with God like Elijah, Abraham and Moses had.
Power Of A Praying Woman by Stormie Omartian
Women tend to put everyone first and often forget to do anything for themselves. This happens even in the place of prayer. It is easier to pray for your husband, parents, children, friends, church but we remain dumbfounded when we pray for ourselves. Stormie Omartian gladly points out how God would be pleased to hear from us about our needs. With guidelines on how to pray for yourself, you will gain confidence in the pursuit of God as you become the woman God intended you to be.
